Take Our Maps with You

We’ve added QRs to our Historical Tours page so now all you have to do to take the maps with you is use your smart phone’s QR reader and make the URL one of your favorites.

Another way that you can take our maps with you is to upload the kmz file from our ‘see the locations in Google Earth’ links to your Google Maps account. Then, on your smart phone, load that map as an overlay in your Google Maps for mobile app. It is indeed a nice way to see the historical sites, especially if you like to use your phone’s GPS navigation while you are at it.

Speaking of GPS, those of you with portable GPS units can also take our maps with you by using a conversion program such as GPSBabel . The only difficulty you may have is unzipping our kmz file to extract the kml file for the conversion program. It isn’t a problem if you are using Google Maps – simply click the ‘View in Google Earth’ button in your Google Maps account. This will download the unzipped (kml) version that you can then convert it for display on your GPS unit.
